Rug design

Hand painted with dyes. Inspired by the natural landscapes of Helsinki, Finland. Many inhabitants of this city are emotionally connected to nature, as large-scale urbanisation is a recent phenomenon. Helsinki is a city by the water , and many people travel to and from by boat. I wanted to focus on water movement, networks of routes and convergence in order to convey the feeling of its surrounding environment. I chose to keep the palette fairly cool to reflect the city's alluring bluish waters.
