My Big Cartel is on its way y'all!
Something I wanted to include on the site. You will soon be able to purchase my naturally dyed silk scarves!
Senior thesis beginnings
For my senior thesis, I wanted to dye natural fabrics with plant, fruit and vegetable dyes. Check out my progress HERE!.
Reupholstered chairs with fruit and vegetable dyed fabrics
Reupholstered an antique Cosco stepping stool chair I found at a local flea market.
The fabric was dyed with black beans, kale and red cabbage.
Reupholstered an antique telephone chair that originally belonged to my great-grandmother. The fabric was dyed with beets.
Collected treasures from Dead Horse Bay
I took a trip to Dead Horse Bay toward the end of this past winter. The beach was abundant with dried winter foliage, antique glass bottles and rusted objects. I collected as much as I could carry home and tried to make some use of my treasures. I used the rust and red berry plant to dye some fabrics. Fabrics included silk, wool, cotton and linen. The silk and wool were champions. Twas an adventurous day.
"Little Swells"
A children's print inspired by "Ocean Waves at Night."
Original artwork: fabric dyes on paper. Color reduced, recolored and put into a repeated pattern.
Color palette
Applied to a children's play tent
FIT textile/surface design senior show postcard option one
A collaboration with friend and fellow textile designer Nancy Villalobos. Water colors, gauche, colored pencils, charcoal, oil pastels, pen and ink on paper.
